Braiding or Plaiting is the weaving together of a few or many leather, rope or rawhide strings by many different methods to produce attractive flat or round articles as shown above that are strong and lasting.
Using techniques, hundreds of years old, I have made Belts, Bridles, Lead ropes, Reins by using metal attachments (Buckles, Metal rings etc) or without by using braided knots or buttons. Please look in the Gallery for examples. I first learnt of braiding way back when I was young enough to be a scout, since then I have occasionally picked up the odd string or two, but more recently my skills have increased with the help of old time experts like Bruce Grant and Ron Edward. |
